What is included in Participation in Community, Social and Civic Activities?
This service allows for the providers to provide supports to assist participants to actively engage in the community and to interact within social and civic activities.
Role of the NDIS
There are two NDIS categories that provide support to help you participate within your community.
- Core Supports Budget
Pays for ongoing support you require for community participation such as the need of a Support Worker to go with you whilst engaged within community activities. - Capacity Building Budget – activities must have a skill building component
Capacity-building supports help you participate in activities that specifically increase your skills and independence, making it easier for you to participate in similar activities in the future.
How can I access this NDIS Support?
In order to include funding for this category in your NDIS budget, you’ll need to have goals outlined in your plan that are related to increasing your skills you need to participate within community activities.
Remember the supports in your plan must meet NDIS funding criteria.
How can Tree - Of - Life assist you?
We are able to offer a range of supports to assist participants to develop and maintain important life skills such as learning about public transport usage to attend areas within the community such as shopping, appointments, leisure, social and civic activities.
These may include but not be limited to:-
- Visiting your friends and family
- Going out to the movies, a concert or to the museum
- Going shopping
- Active hobbies such as bike riding or dancing
- Attending Art classes
- Join a sporting group such as tennis, football or basketball
